Malignant Iago of Shakespeares Othello Essay - 1721 Words

Pure evil is like a cancerous plague that harms all those who come upon it. In the tragic play â€Å"Othello† by William Shakespeare, Iago is a character that represents pure evil – a malignant cancer to all those around him. His evil is exposed through his choice of words, his ability to manipulate people, and his opportunistic ways. First, Iago’s evil is shown through his choice of words that demonstrate his vulgarity and his sinister intentions. Iago’s language is extremely base and forward; he does show any remorse or sympathy in any situation. For example, Desdemona has recently married Othello; when Desdemona’s father, Brabantio, hears the news he becomes enraged. To make the situation much worse, Iago says to†¦show more content†¦An example of his evil imagery is when he says, â€Å"It is engendered. Hell and night/Must bring this monstrous birth to the worlds light.† (Act 1, sc.iii, lines 396-397). His voracity is seen in this quote; he calls upon hell and night to give birth to his evil plan. The way he uses the word, hell and night, associate him with evil which derives from the word devil. Another example that proves Iago’s evil imagery is when he says, â€Å"Divinity of hell!/When devils will the blackest sins put on.† (Act 2,sc.iii, lines 340- 341). In this quote, Iago, once again calls upon hell but this time describes it as divine. Iago’s sinister thoughts are of evil essence because he calls upon the blackest of sins to aid him in his evil quest. Thus, Iago’s choice of words prove his sinister intentions; which also include his ability to manipulate people. Iago’s evil is also demonstrated by his ability to manipulate people and situations through his words and through his actions. The first victim to fall under Iago’s manipulative spell is the half witted Roderigo. Iago recognizes that Roderigo is consumed by lust for Desdemona and would go to the extremes to make her his own. Iago convinces Roderigo that the only way to win Desdemona’s heart is to give her money; â€Å"...Put money in thy purse...† (Act 1, sc. iii, line 339). However, Iago is able to manipulate Roderigo’s infatuation and make himself a profit by taking the money intended for Desdemona andShow MoreRelatedAp Lit- Othello Prompt-1979 Essay628 Words   |  3 Pagesthink.   Avoid plot summary. Stress and Promoting Employee Creativity †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Stress and Promoting Employee Creativity. Answer: Introduction: With the growing hotel industry in the world the number of room cleaners and room attendant are increasing invariably. The hotel attendants comprises of both male and female workers and immigrants from other countries and places. However, the room attendants has to face a lot of challenges while working in the hotel such as long working hours, low pay, low job security and mental pressure. They are also prone to a lot of health risk because of the type of pressure they face at work such as lifting heavy beds, bending down to clean. Moreover, these works has to be done very fast which causes back problems in them. Further, Oxenbridge Moensted, 2011 has examined that the payment system also has an impact on the health of the workers. They usually are paid on the basis of number of rooms cleaned in a day rather than hourly basis. This makes their salary very low compared to other works. It has been discussed by Hsieh, Postolopoulos Sonmez (2016) that the hotel housekeepers face a lot of health hazards due to work which has lead to increasing stress among them. They also face mental strains due to difficulties they face from immigration such as language problem, socioeconomic barriers and lack of health services. Moreover, the low pay they get does not allow them to spent adequate amount of money on health problem, which worsens their conditions even more. The paper analyzed for this purpose has failed to discuss about the ways that can change in the hotel industry to reduce the effect of various environment on the room attendants. Some of the papers also failed to focus on the specific task that has lead to the increasing injuries among the room attendants (Hon, Chan Lu, 2013). Some of the articles have given space to future research that can be taken such as offering collaborative environment whereby they can put more effort on maintaining the working condition in favor of the workers. Further, it has been seen that qualitative research alone did not help them find a proper environment for work (Hsieh, Apostolopoulos Snmez, 2013). A quantitative research analyzing is also required for analyzing the relationship between that working condition and the mental health of the workers (Bryman Bell, 2015). What are the policy recommendations for improving the condition of room attendants in these hotels? The following are the objective of the research to be done in order to solve the above problem (Cohen, Manion Morrison, 2013). Analyzing the works that mostly affects the health condition of the worker Analyzing the affects these working environment possess on the room attendants Suggesting ways through which the working environment can be dealt with in a better way for reducing stress in room attendants Analyzing the after effects of the implementation of the policy From the above analysis it can be concluded that room attendants has been suffering from stress due to the industry they work in. This is because they everyday they are exposed to conditions that put a negative impact on them. Moreover, they also get physical injuries due to the time strains they have at work. Thus, they have been suffering both mentally and physically. However, the objective of the paper is to find out ways to improve the working condition of the workers and increase their productivity at work. References Bryman, A., Bell, E. Rhetorical Analysis Chinese Zodiac Movie Poster

This rhetoric analysis is based on a poster of the Chinese Zodiac movie. The movie was released on 20th December, 2012. The art used in the design was full of graphic enhancements. These enhancements made Jackie Chan to appear larger in size than the plane and the buildings behind him. This represents a typical use of metaphor. He must have outwitted all the odds before him and that is why they are apparently small in size compared to him. The image chosen accomplishes the intention of the message displayed in the poster.Advertising We will write a custom article sample on Rhetorical Analysis: Chinese Zodiac Movie Poster specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Besides, a famous male character called Jackie Chan has been positioned at the center of the poster with a background of burning buildings. The picture of Jackie Chan is quite conspicuous in the poster; it creates an impression of courage and victory. He appears like a determined c haracter ready to face any hurdle on his way with the aim of achieving his ambition. This captivates the mind of the intended audience and makes one to be interested in investigating whether he achieved his ambition. The manner in which Jackie’s picture is displayed on the poster propels the audience toward a sense of humor. He is seen to be in an extremely dangerous situation. However, he does not appear to be worried. He also appears to be playful although it is the normal way he often behaves in most of his movies. The above details are further stressed by the catchphrase on top of the poster. The slogan â€Å"never before action never-again† sends a vivid and eye catching message to the audience. The slogan is divided using two colors namely white on top, red at the center and also white at the bottom. The word â€Å"action† is conspicuously red in color. It gives the actual identity of the movie. There is yet another important slogan positioned at the top o f the poster. The slogan unveils the main theme of the movie. The watchword on top reads â€Å"his mission is to recover their heads, before they take his†. This message raises a lot of questions. The viewers of this poster are left guessing the meaning of the phrase. This is a strong message that attracts the attention of the audience. They are left in a state of suspense and hence become more interested in obtaining the entire content of the movie. The name Jackie Chan is placed slightly above the title of the movie. This is a well known character in the action film industry. The use of a famous male character further strengthens the message being sent by the poster as a must watch movie. Even though the story is not described in the poster, the presence of such a character may insinuate victory based on his previous releases. Most of the Jackie’s movies are normally action-packed and also filled with a lot of fun and fantasy. Therefore, the poster promises a humorou s and yet frightening action movie. It is also worth to mention that Jackie has often been known to be a humorous actor of action movies. Apart from Jackie being an excellent movie actor, he is also a producer and a director at the same time. He is therefore the most important character in the movie bearing in mind that the storyline is based on his own creation. Since Jackie is a well known movie producer, it acts as a vantage marketing strategy to the targeted audience.[1]Advertising Looking for article on art and design? Let's see if we can help you! The title of the movie clearly depicts his identity. The poster title can be seen in the blurred dusty background. However, it makes it easy for the targeted audience to notice the title of the film. The title is also not a common one. The use of letters and numbers may have a lot of hidden meanings.[2] For instance, the title â€Å"CZ12† is further complicated by additional Chinese phrases that seem to explain the meaning of the letters. The use of both English and Chinese languages in the title makes the movie to reach a wide range of audiences. Additional information about the movie is also written in Chinese language. It is definite that the questions being posed by the audience minds are numerous even as they watch the poster. For example, what do the displayed heads have to do with China? The background of the title has blurred images that are covered in dust. This indicates a lot of destruction that took place in an effort towards recovering the ‘heads’. The Jackie Chan posture has also shows him carrying loaded bags. The bags carried by Jackie leave anybody who has looked at the poster wondering if those are the heads he intends to recover. His dressing style is also a center of attrac tion to the audience. He has worn a strong, black leather jacket that compels the audience to be interested in obtaining the whole story behind the movie. This outfit displays a character who is ready for war. The word â€Å"CZ12† appears to be burning out. This is a satirical display of the name of the movie. It has been positioned slightly below Jackie’s luggage. It implies that the name of the movie is related with the contents of the luggage. There is a helicopter just above the image of the main character. It seems to be a military helicopter. The display of the latter provides an extremely important communication to the audience. The process of getting the â€Å"heads† must be a very risky affair. In any case, Jackie has to risk his life in the process. He is seen to be running away from the plane. The plane seems to belong to the opposing forces or his enemy. This is an example of how picture metaphors can be used to communicate important messages.[3] The poster has also credited several important contributors in the development of the movie. This indicates that the movie must have involved many companies in the production process. The latter is a marketing strategy since the movie has listed one of the world’s best known action movie producing studios. The poster displays channels through which the producers and distributors of the movie can be reached. The contacts are at the lower right side of the poster. A common social media link is also used. This provides various means through which the movie can be found. The conspicuous YouTube link is a direct means that can enable any individual to access a preview.Advertising We will write a custom article sample on Rhetorical Analysis: Chinese Zodiac Movie Poster specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The movie poster has no age limit. The ‘low calorie sugar-free’ version of red bull was less advertised before as it was considered wimpy but now for deeper penetration, it is important to launch and promote it in the market. Apart from that, in order to widen its market segment, new flavors and more variety should be introduced to capture new consumers because of the continuously ageing first generation and the ongoing challenge of recruiting a new generation of 16-year-old consumers each year. Also, Women between the ages 23-35 who wish to feel younger should also be targeted in such ads so that they do buy it and feel energized and feel younger. What Is Human Services Common Intervention Strategies Essay

What Is Human Services Common Intervention Strategies - Essay Example The second issue is related to the ambiguity to differentiate among similar terms such as "community services," "welfare services," "human services." These terms are used interchangeably with different focus. It indicates and adds to the failure of the stakeholders in differentiating, defining and drawing a line where needed to the detriment in distribution of resources for executing welfare programs and development work under the umbrella of social services or human services. The 1962 amendments to the Social Security Act initiated a policy change by states and the federal government contributing equally, which was erstwhile limited to advanced states conducting social service programs. The purpose of the social services under the Social Security Act are "to help maintain and strengthen family life" and to assist families "to attain or retain capability for the maximum self-support and personal independence consistent with the maintenance of continuing parental care and protection." The administrative guidance stresses on services to help receivers â€Å"achieve employment and self sufficiency (Randall, 1975). The history of social services development and expenditure starting in 1969 till 1972 by Derthick provides a mirror of the legislation and functioning of social services.
